There was a good crowd in Moose Jaw on Tuesday for the Think Wheat meeting.

Jake Leguee farms in the Weyburn area and is a Director with the Sask Wheat Development Commission.

He gave producers an update on some of the priority issues for the group.

“While there’s a lot of issues going on right now. Obviously a lot of challenges with trade barriers, there’s been a lot of talk about value creation and seed royalty models. So, there’s been a lot on SaskWheat’s plate over the past year, not to mention all that’s going on with research and the development of the Canadian Wheat Research Coalition.”

He notes Trade has been a key issue for the industry with the NAFTA renegotiations, the signing of the new CPTPP which will be very beneficial for us, while the industry continues to work on trade issues with Italy which remain a major concern for Canadian Durum.
