After five years, one of Tourism Swift Current's biggest events of the year has returned.

The 49 x 110 Conference is a chance for many different tourism agencies to together in Swift Current. Together, they share in knowledge, and strategy, and get to experience the wonderful highlights Swift Current has to offer.

This year, Rebecca Anderson, CEO of Tourism Swift Current, led the reborn event with opening remarks and addressed her peers. For Tourism Board Chair, Karen Richmound, it was good to see Anderson leading the organization back to its pre-pandemic pinnacle.

"Last year was a challenging year for Tourism Swift Current," said Richmound. "Our long-time CEO, Lee Friesen, retired, as well as Jackie Moore, who had been our executive assistant for 12 years, and Kara Thompson, who was the CEO of the board. So we're looking at 2024 as a year of rejuvenation and regrowth."

The conference will last for two days. Today will see several presentations and speeches, and Tourism Swift Currents Annual General Meeting.

Tomorrow will be a day featuring training sessions for tourism members.

"The advantage is not just the networking," said Nicholson. "We have people here from Regina, from Swift Current, from all across the southern regions. It's an opportunity to meet and talk about how things are going, and how can we do better."

The conference is open only to pre-registered attendees. The conference is still running today, with the AGM set to begin after 4 p.m.
