An application for a wind energy project from Chaplin has been rejected - at least at the desired location.

Environment Minister Scott Moe announced today that Algonquin Power's proposal for a 177-megawatt wind power facility was denied, due to findings in an environmental impact study.

The government says the location may have caused negative impacts to birds and migratory corridors.

Chaplin is located 90km east of Swift Current on the TransCanada highway.
