The City of Swift Current has released what stands to be the last overpass update.

The full release from the City of Swift Current is below in its entirety:

The City of Swift Current today is pleased to advise the public that the 2nd Avenue Overpass Project is near completion, and the Overpass will be open to traffic by Monday, October 24. A definitive time will be announced tomorrow.

“We are very happy to see this project reach its completion,” stated Tim Marcus, City of Swift Current Chief Administrative Officer. “Although we experienced several delays due to unfavorable weather conditions, we are fortunate to now have a fully rehabilitated bridge that will serve our community well for the next fifty-plus years.”

“We really want to extend our sincere gratitude to the residents and motorists in our community for their patience,” continued Marcus. “This was a significant inconvenience for many individuals, and we truly appreciate their understanding as we upgraded this vital component of our transportation infrastructure.”

The City would also like to thank funding partners The Government of Canada and The Government of Saskatchewan for their support, as well as the Canadian Pacific Railway for accommodating train traffic modifications to ease the pressure at alternate crossings throughout the city.
