Swift Current Broncos forward Lane Pederson must have picked up some good habits at the CIBC Canda/Russia series.

He has scored four times in two games to help lead two different third period comebacks since returning from his experience with Team WHL.

Pederson first scored twice in the third period on Saturday to help bring the Broncos back from down 3-0 and force overtime against the Wheat Kings. Pederson then struck twice more in the third on Sunday coming back from down 2-0 in Brandon.

The Broncos lost both games in the shootout.

"It showed a gutsy effort on our part," Pederson said after Saturday's game. "But we put ourselves in that position and we have to find a way to get two points."

The 19-year-old was a late addition to team WHL for the Canada/Russia Series and really appreciated the opportunity to play those two games.

"It was incredible," Pederson said. "A really good experience and a really good opportunity. I had a lot of fun playing hockey while I was there."

"It's the best players, right? It's fast, it's crisp, it's sharp and everyone is in their spot where they need to be. It makes it a lot easier playing with guys but at the same time the opposition is on another level too. It was a ton of fun and it was a nice challenge."

It's been a year of learning experiences for Pederson after getting to attend NHL camp with Arizona, play in the NHL pre-season and now participate with Team WHL.

"You watch some of the best guys and the habits they have," Pederson said. "The little things they do on and off the ice to better themselves. You pick up little things along the way. It makes you a better player, it makes you a better person and it makes you a better pro."

Pederson seems to be making the most of those learning experiences as he has earned an NHL contract and is on a roll right now with 8 goals in his last 11 games.

The two games also featured Broncos defenceman Artyom Minulin on Team Russia which created a fun rivalry between teammates.

"It was funny and it was nice to see him on the other side," Pederson said. "Apparently I cross checked him behind the net one time and apparently that hurt pretty bad but I don't remember. It was a lot of fun playing the Russians."

The series ended on a surprising note for Pederson as he was jumped by Russian Nikita Dynyak.

"I don't even know what to say about that," Pederson said. "It was kind of a crazy way to end it. I'm just happy we won and that's probably something I'll remember forever."

Pederson and the banged up Broncos are back in action tonight when they host the Red Deer Rebels. Swift Current comes into action without six regulars including Glenn Gawdin, Riley Stotts, Conner Chaulk, Matthew Stanley, Arthur Miller and Calvin Spencer.

You can hear tonight's game on The Eagle 94.1 FM with Robertson Family Group Broncos Hockey at 6:30pm. Puck drop is just after 7pm at the Credit Union iPlex.
