On November 23, 2016, shortly before 10:00 a.m., Swift Current RCMP received a complaint that a student had made threats against the Swift Current Comprehensive High School.

As a result, members from the Swift Current City RCMP  Detachment immediately located and arrested an adult male.  Investigators identified another person of interest and a second adult male was located and arrested in

Swift Current.  

Investigators seized one air soft replica firearm during the follow-up investigation at a residence in Swift Current.

 
On November 24, charges were laid against the following:

 
Ryan Pierone was charged with Uttering Threats contrary to Section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code and Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code.

 
Kolton Cunningham was charged with, Uttering Threats contrary to Section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code

 
The accused made their first court appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court on November 24.  Ryan Pierone was remanded to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court on January 4, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.  

Kolton Cunningham was remanded to appear this afternoon  at 3:00 in Swift Current Provincial Court.


Investigators from the Swift Current Municipal RCMP Detachment and RCMP Major Crime Unit - South worked closely with officials from Swift Current Comprehensive High School as soon as they became aware of the
complaint.

At no time was there any immediate risk to the students, staff or school.  No actions were taken to limit the movements or activities of students either inside or outside the school and there was no disruption to classes,
students or school staff.
