The Salvation Army has been operating in Swift Current for 100 years. In that time the residents of Swift Current have assisted their neighbours with donations of food and money no matter what the economic condition. In 2015 the Salvation Army gave out over 260 hampers of food. That equaled over 26,000 lbs of food.

The staple in most hampers is Peanut Butter, Kraft Dinner, Canned Tomatoes, Sugar and Coffee. They are in need of these as well as any non perishable food item. Donation bins are in place across Swift Current or residents can take their donation to the Swift Current Mall Miracle room or to the Salvation Army Office on 1st Ave NW.

Major Don Grad said, "We very much appreciate and say thank you to the support of the people. It's amazing, I've never seen anything like it in 33 years as a Salvation Army officer. Swift current is really just amazing, and I want to say thank you".

If you are in need for a Christmas hamper please contact the Salvation Army before Dec 7, 2016. Donations of food items need to be at the Salvation Army office by Dec 13, 2016 so that hampers are ready for distribution on Dec 19, 2016.
