An open house will be hosted by SaskPower this afternoon to discuss potential plans to add utility-scale solar projects to the Southwest.

The first 10 MegaWatt project is expected to be in service in 2018. As part of this first project, SaskPower will be addressing potential solar locations around Morse and Rush Lake.

Representatives from various departments will be on hand to discuss aspects of the potential projects.

SaskPower explains they are not promising to build a utility-scale solar project in the area.

Instead, they explain they’re sharing information with these two communities which have a high potential for a utility scale solar project.

Local community input is welcome during the event.

The open house for Morse/Rush Lake will be held today at the Morse Community Hall on Main Street.

Tim Schuster, Director, IPP and Development will be on hand to answer questions from 1-3 p.m. for those wanting to ask questions.
