The annual Walk for Alzheimer’s fundraiser, set for May 31, will be an online virtual event for the first time in the organization’s history.

With all the media attention focused on the COVID-19 spread and tragedies happening in senior living complexes across the country, financial support is more important than ever before.

This year, the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan plans to continue its annual fundraiser despite the pandemic.

The May 31, the online event will start at 10:00 am with a telecast you can view from your computer at home. All you need is an internet connection.

The idea is that you can still participate and raise funds safely by walking or watching online.

To sign up for the event, visit https://alzheimer.ca/en/sk/Get-involved/Help-us-Raise-Funds/Walk?f and register as a walker or to support a walker.

All registered participants will receive emailed instructions on how to view the Walk Online live-stream on Facebook or the walk website.

Supporters are encouraged to post videos or photos on all social media platforms before and during the event to highlight the unique ways to take part in the event or to challenge other walkers, to walking your dog or any other creative ways to participate in the fundraiser.

Donations can be made online. The website also provides information and ideas on challenges, fundraising tips, pledge forms and sponsorship information.

With spring around the corner, this might be a welcome excuse to go outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine while participating in a worthwhile cause.
