Though the 2020 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships have been cancelled due to COVID-19, this year's Team Sask contingent was announced as having a southwest connection once again.

The 2020 NAHC were slated to run May 11-16 from the Cooperators Centre in Regina.

Team Saskatchewan announced their rosters at the start of this month, noting that the Male roster would have had one Swift Current product, and three total former Home Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires.

2019-20 team captain, Riley Dekowny, was one of 14 forwards listed on the roster. The Swift Current prospect graduated from the program in the spring, and recorded 32 goals and 69 points in 115 combined regular-season and playoff games in Midget AAA.

Also set to be on the forward unit was Kindersley product Tylin Hilbig. He posted three goals and 11 points in 46 total games as a rookie last year.

Meanwhile, one of seven players named to the blueline unit was defenseman Hunter Larocque. The Saskatoon product played parts of the past two seasons in Swift Current. He had 11 goals and 22 points in 48 games over that span, before getting called up by the SJHL's Kindersley Klippers mid-season. Larocque then posted three goals and an assist in 30 games of Junior A action.

Dekowny, Hilbig, Larocque, and Team Sask would have opened the 2020 NAHC tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m. against Team B.C.
