Over two dozen new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Saskatchewan Health Authority in their Friday update.

The May 1 update announced 26 new cases – 19 of which are in the far north region of the province. Four are in the north region – of those cases, three are in Lloydminster, and three are in the Saskatoon area.

It’s the second-largest daily increase of new cases in the province during the pandemic, trailing the 30 reported in late March.

There have now been 415 reported cases overall.

The SHA also announced two new recoveries from the virus, putting the number of active cases back over the century mark at 112.

The recovery total is now at 297.

Breaking down the 415 cases by age range:

  • 0-19 y/o: 39 cases,
  • 20-39 y/o: 151 cases,
  • 40-59 y/o: 139 cases,
  • 60-79 y/o: 73 cases,
  • 80+ y/o: 13 cases.

Ten Saskatchewan residents are currently hospitalized due to the virus. Three are in ICU in Saskatoon, another three are receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon, with four more with inpatient care in the north region.

A total of 30,357 tests for the coronavirus have now been performed in Saskatchewan.
