A modified version of the City of Swift Current's Residential Yard Waste Program begins today, as announced on Friday.

Due to physical distancing restrictions, the City unveiled the following rules in their plan:

  • The separation of organic yard waste from wood and branches prior to leaving the residence,
  • Follow directions from attendant regarding staying in the vehicle and waiting in designated parking,
  • Only one vehicle allowed service at a time,
  • Empty waste/contents from bags and containers.

The City notes that, for those with mobility issues, attendants would dispose of yard waste, while the resident stays in their vehicle.

There will be three sites for free disposal:

  • Southside - located on Dahl Street at former St. Joseph’s School site,
  • Northside - located Innovation Credit Union i-Plex Parking Lot,
  • Landfill.

The south and northside locations will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m., Fridays from 12-4 p.m., and both Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sunday's will be closed on statutory holiday weekends.

As for the landfill, hours of operation are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. The City adds that they'll cut off loads at 4:45 p.m.

The City of Swift Current's release on their modified program also noted that the usual items are allowed/disallowed in the bins.
