With SARCAN Recycling depots still facing a temporary closure due to COVID-19, several community organizations in Swift Current have provided an additional method to dispose of bottles and cans that may be piling up at home.

The Swift Current Wolverines Junior B Lacrosse team has teamed up with the local Salvation Army branch to do a bottle drive once per week.

The first drive was held Sunday afternoon, and the trend will continue weekly.

The Wolverines noted on social media that those wanting their recycling picked up can text 306-741-3193 to book a time.

The Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires and the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation have also partnered for a three-day drive thru recycling depot.

The depot is located at the bottom parking lot of the Innovation Credit Union iPlex, and runs April 27-29 from 4-8 p.m.

Proceeds from the recycling donations will be put towards the foundation's 'Close to the Heart' Digital Mammography campaign.

Another of those organizations accepting donations of recyclables is the Swift Current SPCA.

The SPCA said on social media that they'll be accepting clean, de-capped bottles and cans to the south side Swift Current shelter. They asked those wanting to donate to leave the bags on the front step.

The SPCA added they'll be storing the cans and bottles and taking them in when SARCAN reopens - donations will be used to support local shelter operations.
