Saskatchewan saw its steepest drop yet in the active number of cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

The provincial health authority's daily update announced 25 new recoveries compared to just one new confirmed case. That puts the overall number of recoveries at 433 and the number of reported cases at 591.

In turn, the number of active cases of COVID-19 sunk down to 152. The decrease of two dozen has been the largest daily amount dropped since the virus entered the province.

Another positive front, the Sask Health Authority declared the outbreak in the La Loche Health Centre over.

Eight people remain in hospital - three are in the ICU in Saskatoon, with the other six receiving inpatient care across the north, Saskatoon, and Regina regions.

An increase of 864 tests since the last update puts the overall testing total at 40,097.
