The City of Swift Current played host to the Snowbirds Precision Acrobatics team as well as other aerial performers.

Blake McNaughton, the Advance & Safety Pilot for Snowbird #10, stated at a press conference the day before, “I can’t describe it on the radio you have to come out and see it, but are going to be looping, rolling, (with) nine planes and large formations. We are going to do dynamic solo crosses and put that (together) with narration and music, it’s going to blow your mind,” he said. They did not disappoint.

The event started with the Snowbirds 9 man precision Flying team with delighted the crowd with multiple manoeuvres and formations. The team performed complex formations that changed as they the various loops and curves in the air. The crowd of thousands was very quiet as the team did their performance. As the Snowbirds ended their routine a line up of several hundred autograph seekers had already formed and the second act had not yet taken off. A cool wind was not enough to dampen the enthusiasm of the local crowd. The only thing that delayed the event was a twin-engine plane that landed just before the show was to start. While taxiing off the runway it had a flat tire. A repair truck had to come out and tow it off the taxi lane before the show could start. A call was put out for current Mayor Jarrod Schafer to give a welcome from the City but he was delayed in getting to the Airport as there was a train holding up traffic. Mayor Schafer spoke at the end of the Snowbirds performance and thanked them and all the people who turned out to watch this major event. Kids of all ages were heard oohing and aahing at the demonstrations, especially the high-speed passes. Everyone who attended was thoroughly entertained by the event.
