A local Swift Current business has tied their line of work into a charitable donation last week.

The Hearing Place teamed up with the Swift Current United Way for a December, 2016 fundraising promotion.

Through all of last month, the proceeds from hearing assessments were donated to Swift Current United Way in support of local community programs. In a cheque presentation last week, The Hearing Place was able to donate $560 to the United Way from the month's hearing assessments.

Brad Woods, Owner and Business Manager of The Hearing Place, discusses what the hearing assessment entailed, a task he feels is a necessity.

"Come in, have your hearing assessed, and find out where your baseline is - where you're hearing at this point. So down the road if and when you do start to feel like you might be struggling, or if you're struggling already, you have a starting point and you can start to get used to making that part of your hearing health regime that you do on a bi-annual basis," he said.

With the promotion tying in customer health and, in turn, helping out a local charitable organization, Brad explains the ability to support the community is an important part of their business.

"We're big on the relationship we have with the community. We're part of the community, our kids are actively involved in the community, and this is our home.

We really want to show that we're committed to being a part of, and giving back to the community. That's the basis behind our thinking with a lot of the stuff that we do," he said.

The partnership with the United Way is something Woods and The Hearing Place look to continue in the future.
