Spring has only just started, but preparations are already underway for the 2018 edition of Canadian Western Agribition, set for November 19 to 24 in Regina.

The organization held its annual meeting last week, where they announced a profit of over 270 thousand dollars.

President Bruce Holmquist says that money will be invested back into the show.

"We had last year was a record amount of revenue," he said. "The highest operating revenue we've ever seen of 4.6 million, so it shows what we do put back into the show, and one of the most important aspects is the economic impact of it. We did a study last that showed that we generate 73.6 million annually to the provincial economy so that significant."

Holmquist adds the new International Trade Centre at EVRAZ Place has been a valuable asset with the modern facilities helping to attract more buyers and sellers to the event.

"We can't overvalue what the new facilities provide us," he said. "They bring people from all corners of the world to Regina to do business, to showcase our agricultural product and then we had substandard facilities for them. We've stepped right in this century solidly with what we have now, and I'd say there isn't a facility in Canada that is any better than what we have."

Holmquist adds their focus for the 2018 show this fall will be on hospitality and execution as they look at ways to enhance the event.
