The Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan [APAS] is out touring the province holding their Fall District meetings.

The first round of meetings was held this week in Assiniboia and Swift Current.

APAS President Todd Lewis says it’s important to get out to the grassroots and stay connected with our reps.

"That's where the policy is driven from; it's from farmers and ranchers at the local level," Lewis said. "There is always local concerns, and those are important. Those come up through APAS and at AGM’s and into resolutions and then ultimately to our meetings in Ottawa with the CFA and that's how policy gets made."

APAS representatives covered a variety of issues from Federal Tax Consultations to Biosecurity, Weed Management, Water Management and more.

He adds that they will continue to raise producer concerns on the proposed tax changes, noting today he’s meeting with Liberal MP Ralph Goodale and in November they will appear before the Senate Standing Committee on Finance.

The next meeting is coming up in District 1 on October 30th at the Skyline Motor Inn at Carlyle.
