The Canadian Grain Commission has launched a public consultation into proposed changes to its user fees and options for the current $107 million dollar surplus.

Remi Gosselin is the head of communications and says they re-evaluated annual grain volume projections, their costs and revenues and are proposing a 23% drop in user fees.

"We estimate that the changes to our fees will result in savings of $0.44 per tonne or a little over $15 Million per year based on an annual grain volume projection of 34.4 million metric tonnes," Gosslin said.

Grain producers, farm groups, licensed grain companies and industry associations are invited to provide input on proposed changes by the May 1st deadline.
