There's still a lot of crop out in the field in the northern and central areas of the Province where they’ve seen their share of cool, wet weather and snow.

Agriculture Minister David Marit says he understands that farmers are getting concerned.

“I farm too and even down in the southern part of the province, there’s crop out. We can only hope that we’re going to see a nice half of October and a good November. Two years ago in my own operation, we finished combining on the 13th of November. So hopefully we can see some nice weather yet and farmers can get out there and get this crop.”

Marit says Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation is monitoring the situation.

“When you look overall, we’re concerned with what’s out there. My concern obviously is it’s a good crop that’s out there, talking to a lot of farmers, a lot of canola out there yet. We want to see them get it off; driving out here (to Clavet) there’s standing grain coming out here. I’m hopeful we’re going to see some nice weather yet and farmers can get this crop in the bin.”

Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Agriculture releases its next crop report to update harvest progress tomorrow.

Marit was in Clavet for the Official Opening of the U of S Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence.
