The grills will be heating up this May long weekend, and nothing completes that hot dog or hamburger like a dollop of mustard.

Adele Buettner, General Manager of Sask Mustard, says Saskatchewan produces about 75 per cent of Canada’s mustard crops, and we export more mustard seed than any other country.

"When we talk to chef's, homecooks and people that love eating mustard, we share with them that whether they pick up a bottle of mustard that prepared in Dijon, France, England, U.S., or Germany, chances are the seed in that mustard came from Canada with a very good chance it came from Saskatchewan," she said.

But it’s more than just a condiment Buettner says, they've released a new cookbook showing many different ways to cook with mustard.

"We have a variety of recipes," she added. "Everything from buns, bread, muffins, desserts, appetizers, salad dressings and side dishes. Part of our recipe is dedicated to working with children in the kitchen, so we have a number of child-friendly recipes that children can help out with as well."

The cookbook, entitled “Mustard Makeovers and More” is available online at amazon.ca.
