Now that the harvest is almost wrapped up, farmers are turning their attention to other fall work.

One of the items on the agenda for farmers in the southern part of the province is getting rid of unwanted or obsolete pesticides and livestock medication.

Since 1998, Saskatchewan farmers have turned in more than 560,000 kilograms of obsolete pesticides through the Cleanfarms program.

This week Cleanfarms is holding collection events at various locations.

The following locations will be accepting obsolete pesticides and livestock/equine medications from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the dates specified:

October 23 - Broadview Hometown Co-Op, Leader @ G-Mac's Ag team, Maple Creek @ Richardson Pioneer and Strasbourg @ Richardson Pioneer

October 24 - Moosomin @ Sharpe's Soil Services Limited, Raymore @ Crop Production Services, Rosetown @ Rose Production Services and Shaunavon @ Crop Production Services

October 25 - Carnduff @ Crop Production Services, Ebenezer @ Yorkton Co-op, Limerick @ Limerick Co-op and Lucky Lake @ Gardiner Dam AG Services Limited

October 26 - Balcarres @ Crop Production Services, Davidson @ Richardson Pioneer, Estevan @ Richardson Pioneer and Swift Current @ Richardson Pioneer

October 27 - Coronach @ Richardson Pioneer, Moose Jaw @ Prairie Plains Agro Limited, Regina @ Crop Production Services and Weyburn @ Parrish and Heimbecker Limited

After collection, the pesticides and medications are taken to a licensed waste management facility where they are disposed of through high-temperature incineration.
