March is Rural Women's Month in Saskatchewan.

Anne Wasko has spent 35 years in the cattle industry as a market analyst who today runs Cattle Trends, her own market analysis business.

She says the best advice she ever received and would pass on to others is to keep your eyes wide open, be patient and aware of what's really happening in the industry.

"The industry has its challenges, just from a sheer fact that there's so many things that can impact our business whether its outside markets, mother nature, or foreign animal diseases. All of those things I think have been the surprises and shockers for the industry, and therefore the market - and therefore me. But it's been a great business," she said.

Wasko also says she enjoys participating in mentorship programs.

"Back in my day, we didn't really have official mentors, but I certainly picked some along the way that were great mentors for me and certainly helped me get through any of those bumps. I've been very, very lucky and I have those mentors to thank over the years, and that's why I love giving back," she said.

She moved to Saskatchewan from Alberta and in 2010 married Barry Wasko where together they operate Bar 4 Bar Ranches at Eastend, a commercial Red Angus and grasser operation.
