Saskatchewan Agriculture’s Weekly Crop Report shows some eastern and northern areas have higher-than-average yields.

Yields in much of the south and central regions were impacted by hot and dry conditions with crops running out of moisture much earlier than normal and not filling properly.

Some cereal crops are reported to have reduced protein content and lighter bushel weights.

Spring wheat grades are above the 10 year average and are being reported as 74 per cent 1 CW, 23 per cent 2 CW and three per cent 3 CW.

Harvest is most advanced in the southwest where 98% of the crop is in, the southeast and west-central regions have 92% done. The east-central region is at 89% complete while the northeast is at 78% and the northwest at 69%.

Rainfall this week delayed harvest activities in some areas.

Producers especially in the southern half of the province welcomed the heavy rain and snow to help replenish the topsoil.

However, warm dry weather is now needed for producers to finish the harvest.
