Real Farm Lives is a documentary web series that aims to challenge people’s misconceptions of where their food comes from and how it’s grown.

This week’s show features the Englot family, Norman, and Loretta of Costa Lotta Farms in Montmartre, Saskatchewan.

Their daughter Madison Englot is the third generation on the farm.  She is currently working on her Agronomy degree at the U of S and helping on the family farm.

“We farm about 3000 acres of soybeans, durum, and canola. We are a conventional farm so we use pesticides, herbicides, insecticides whenever we need to boost those yields and really get the best out of each harvest.”

She says they felt it was important to be involved.

“We feel there are fewer people that have a connection with farms than before which means there are perceptions about farming that are often inaccurate.  We know Canadians have a genuine curiosity about where their food comes from.  Getting involved with this series is a way to promote how people see the industry and our farming practices.”
