Information from the Farm Financial Survey for 2015 is now available.

Data for the Stats Canada survey was gathered and analysed in 2016.

According to the survey, the average net worth per farm increased in each province in Canada, in Saskatchewan average farm assets increased almost 25% from the 2013 report.

Erin Kumar an Analyst with the Farm Financial Survey in the Agriculture Division of Statistic’s Canada fills us in on the Saskatchewan statistics

"In Saskatchewan as in Canada, land and buildings represents the largest share of those long-term assets," Kumar said. "For short-term assets, the largest share is made up of crop sales. We also know that average

debt in Saskatchewan increased just under 9%  from 2013," Kumar adds, "A larger increase than average farm assets compared to the increase in average debt contributed to the overall increase in the average net worth

that we are seeing."

Saskatchewan’s average net worth increased to $2.5 million in 2015.
