Saskatchewan Agriculture’s Weekly Crop Report shows the majority of crop damage this past week was due to lodging from snow and rain.

Despite the weather, we did see some harvest progress in areas where the weather co-operated; so far 73% of the provincial crop is now in the bin,  up from 68% last week.

Farmers are reporting that the crop quality has been affected by the recent moisture and downgrading is expected at the elevator.

Harvest is most advanced in the southwest where 90 % of the crop is now combined, 89% is done in the southeast, the west-central area has 62% complete, while the east-central region is at 61%.

The majority of the crop is still out in the northern areas with 45% is done in the northeast while only 33% of the crop is in the bin in the northwest.

Overall, 84% of durum crop is in the bin, 78% of barley, 76% of mustard, 58% of spring wheat, 52% of the canola, 33% of flax and 29% of soybeans have now been combined.

Sask Ag says Spring Wheat grades at this time are being reported as 54% #1 CW, 25% # 2 CW, 17% # 3 CW and 4% is listed as CW Feed.
