Yesterday during the opening ceremonies of the 40th-annual Farm Progress Show in Regina, they announced this year’s Innovation Award Winners.

2017 Gold Innovation Award Winners were Setter Manufacting Division in Russell, Man. for their Drylobag Grain Preservation and Drying System - a portable grain drying and storage system (see photo below).

Duck Mountain Environmental at Kamsack was the other Gold Innovation Award winner for their Tankfull Monitoring System.

Robert Ritchie, President and CEO of Duck Mountain Environmental talked about their concept:

"The piece of technology that we developed is designed to monitor and to alert people when their septic tanks are full of waste," Ritchie said. "Traditionally in the past if you have a septic tank or septic field you have to go out and physically check it. Now we have an ultrasonic sensor that sits on top of your septic tank and it is allowed to transmit that data in real time to the customer."

Six Sterling Awards were handed out this year.

You'll find all Winners in the Innovations Area in Hall 12 of the Canada Centre Arena during Canada’s Farm Progress Show.
