This week is Native Prairie Appreciation Week in Saskatchewan.

It’s a celebration dedicated to raising awareness of our grassland ecosystem in the province.

A number of activities and field tours are planned this week to help promote Native Prairie Appreciation Week,

Among which is an informative session in Market Square on Saturday, June 24th.

Research shows that in Saskatchewan between 17% and 21% of the original native prairie remains intact.

The Prairie Conservation Action Plan Committee notes whether it's because native prairies are the foundation of a sustainable ranching operation, or provides habitat for wildlife, whether you are a plant fanatic or an insect lover, a birder or a hunter, everyone has their reasons for appreciating native prairie.
