The issue of help for producers impacted by last month’s wildfires was raised during question period in the Saskatchewan Legislature this week.

NDP Agriculture Critic Carla Beck told the Legislature that the Provincial Government hadn't done enough to help producers impacted by the wildfires.

She notes there’s a surplus in the Agriculture funding of $90 million and wants a commitment from the Agriculture Minister to use some of that funding to help producers in this very desperate time of need.

Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart has said that a good deal of financial help has already been provided.

He notes that most of the losses are considered insurable, adding that the province doesn’t cover that.
