The federal government has announced that it will not change the current tax treatment of deferred cash purchase tickets for listed grain deliveries.

With Budget 2017, the Liberals launched a public consultation on the ongoing use and potential elimination of the income tax deferral option.

However, after considering all of the submissions received during the consultation, the government has decided not to change the current system.

"Canada's agricultural sector brings jobs, high-quality food, and economic growth to Canadians," commented Federal Ag Minister Lawrence MacAulay. "By introducing tax relief and maintaining current tax treatment, we continue to ensure farmers keep their businesses strong, which is vital to the continued growth and success of the sector and to grow the middle class and those working hard to join it."
