Farmers have been pushing hard to get the bulk of the crop in before the rain arrived.

Saskatchewan Agriculture’s Weekly Crop Report shows provincially about 65% of the crop is now combined, up from 45 per cent last week.

Shannon Friesen fills us in on crop quality.

"Provincially durum grades are being reported as 69% #1, 28% number 2 and 3% number 3 CWAD(quad). Pea grades are 47% Number 1, 49 % Number 2 and 4% Number 3. Lentil grades are 37% Number 1, 57% Number 2, 5% Number 3 while 1% is considered to be sample this year," she said.

Some producers have wrapped up harvest operations.

She notes harvest is most advanced in the southwest where 86% of the crop is now in the bin. The southeast is at 76%, the west central region is at 66% complete, the east-central region is at 57 %. The northeast has 37% done and the northwest is at 35%.

Friesen also spoke about what’s left out.

"Certainly what is left out there in the south part of the province are some of those crops that aren't maturing as quickly as we'd like," Friesen said. "Some of the soybeans fields, faba beans, flax, canary seed (aren't moving quick enough). The bulk of the pulses have come off, as well as the winter cereals and of course, the durum and the spring wheat are making gains as well."
