The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities Annual Convention opened Wednesday at Regina’s Evraz Place.

RM Delegates from around the Province will spend the next few days hearing presentations, debating resolutions and discussing everything from Politics to Municipal Issues, Farm Safety, Clubroot, Wind Energy and more.

President Ray Orb says one of the highlights for this week is always the Political networking which this year includes a presentation from Premier Scott Moe, as well as the political bearpit session.

He notes delegates will also be tackling a number of resolutions this week including a couple on clubroot.

"We are going to be discussing how Saskatchewan handles their problems of clubroot in the municipalities," he said. "We actually have an action plan already. We are going to be talking about maybe enhancing that program or trying to make it better somehow."

Orb says when it comes to grain movement the organization has been pushing for action on Bill C49.

"We sent letters off to Minister Garneau some time ago and we actually just sent one off to the Senate to try and get the bill passed," he said. "We are well over seven months in this crop year, and we have a backlog especially on the CN lines."
