Sask Wheat says it’s confident in the quality and safety of Canadian wheat.

This after the CFIA announced it had found a few herbicide-tolerant plants on an isolated service road in southern Alberta.

The CFIA has said that no GM wheat has entered the seed supply, animal feed supply, food system or any grain shipments destined for export markets.

Sask Wheat Chair Laura Reiter believes the action taken by Japan and South Korea to suspend wheat imports is temporary and should be quickly resolved.

Producers attending the Sask Wheat Semi-Annual Meeting at Evraz Place tomorrow will have the opportunity to learn more about the GM wheat situation.

Registration is available on the Sask Wheat website: saskwheat.ca.
