Crops Extension Specialist Sara Tetland says at this point 77 per cent of the provincial crop is in the bin.

"A lot of those pulses are nearly off now, so 99 per cent of the lentils and 98 per cent of the field peas in the Province have been combined,
95 per cent of the durum is off, 86 per cent of barley, 77 per cent of chickpeas, 74 per cent of spring wheat, 71 per cent of oats, 61 per cent of canola
and 52 per cent of flax has been combined. An additional 35 per cent of canola is swathed or ready to straight-cut."

Regionally, the Southwest has 96% of the harvest complete, the southeast 89%, west central is at 78%
the east central has 69% done, the northeast 51% and the northwest 43%.

She says as we move later into harvest it's been a little cooler, morning dew and a little damper.

"So the crop has been coming up tough and some of the farmers have noted that harvesting days are a little bit shorter
while they're waiting for it to warm up and dry up during the day. Then there has been more of that crop being aerated or placed into grain dryers."

Tetland notes the majority of crop damage this week was due to wind, frost, waterfowl, wildlife and lack of moisture.

Meantime, heavy rain in some areas has also resulted in lodging of crops.
