The Saskatchewan Stock Growers held their AGM and Convention this week in Moose Jaw.

President Shane Jhanke says it was another success with some great presentations providing producers with some key information.

New regulations by Health Canada will make certain livestock feed additives and injectable drugs available only by prescription, as well as changing some 300 products to prescription only status requiring increased veterinary oversight.

Another requirement is that producers must have a valid relationship with their vet with a recorded medical herd history.

"It's always a good idea to have a good working relationship with the vet," he said. "I'm hoping we aren't going to see much complications with these new regulations, just maintain proper use of the products."

Changes are expected to come into effect for December 2018.
