The Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association fully supports the Provincial government’s review of the Trespass Related Legislation.”

With hunting season getting underway, the SCA is reminding people to ask landowners for permission before entering farm and/or pasture land.

It’s extremely important for hunters to take the time to get that permission.

SCA Chair Rick Toney says there may be people working in the fields, there may still be cattle, horses and other livestock in the pastures, or there may already be hunters set up.”

The SCA has previously called upon the government to do more to tighten trespass legislation.

He notes “Too often we have hunters and other visitors trespassing on our lands without asking. This leads to issues with cut fences, injured or lost animals and biosecurity risks to herds and fields.”

The SCA wants to see the Trespass law changed from landowners having to post no trespassing signs, to legislation that would require all visitors to who want access to agricultural lands to ask for written permission from the landowner or lessee.
