Another edition of Canadian Western Agribition is in the books.

Bruce Holmquist is finishing up his two-year term as President of the organization.

In the wrap-up press conference he said once again Agribition welcomed a number of International visitors.

“We had around 1200 international visitors registered from, I can’t remember, 76 or 77 countries. You know many first timers to many people we’ve seen here before who continue to do business. I know one fellow who’s been to Canada 90 times from Australia and Agribition is one of the places he’s been to most often to buy genetics to take back there.”

He says while the numbers are not finalized yet, they had some strong prices in the sales ring with a lot of international interest in Canadian genetics.

“We had a $37,000 Hereford bull calf; you know semen and embryo packages that have gone throughout the world. We had a pair of Shorthorn animals that went down to Argentina. Which is really nice because we were down there last year; I’m not saying that resulted in this sale, but it certainly helped to make people aware of the presence that Agribition has and what we have to offer here.”

International interest was also strong in the Speckle Park sale with a Bred Heifer going to a buyer from Australia for $10,500.00, along with Embryo packages sold to buyers from Australia, Wales, and Oklahoma and Semen packages also going out to Australia buyers.
