Dining for a cause is the theme this weekend as residents can partake in the upcoming River Hills First Responder Dinner Night Fundraiser.

Taking place this Saturday, August 6th from 4:00 pm through to 8:00 pm at Swifty's Casual Dinning, Jeremy Pettigrew Coordinator for the River Hills First Responder Group provides details on the necessity of these fundraisers.

"We're all volunteers and we rely on public support to operate. So any funding we receive helps to offset our operating costs such as medical equipment upkeep and vehicle upkeep as well."

Medical first responder groups operate out of small communities where emergency services are not readily available. The groups get called out and they provide initial patient care until paramedics arrive.

Pettigrew provides more details on the allocation of the funds raised through this upcoming event which will also include a silent auction.

"There are a couple of things we need to look at replacing. At the moment we are looking to replace our AED batteries which unfortunately are not the cheapest thing. It also helps to offset our costs for our vehicle insurances and that sort of thing."

Those interested in purchasing tickets can do so in advance at Swifty's Casual Dinning or by calling Jeremy at 306-750-7951 or Shila at 306-750-7746. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the event.
