The Swift Current 57's finally closed the book on their home opener and played another seven-inning game as they made up a pair of rainouts against the Weyburn Beavers at Mitchell Field on Thursday.

Game one - Weyburn 10 Swift Current 8

The opening game was a resumption of the suspended May 26 contest and began with the Beavers leading 8-3 in the top of the third, and Weyburn with runners on second and third with two away. Kenny Jinks walked Ryan Muizelaar to load the bases, but struck out Ian Heck to get out of the early jam. Ryan Webster scored on an error to put the Beavers up 9-3 in the fourth before Brody Alexandre hit a three-run home run in the fifth to cut Swift Current's deficit to 9-6. Ryan Dauphinee hit a solo shot in the top of the seventh and then Kai Gray scored on an error in the bottom half to make the score 10-7. Gray hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Demetrio Archuleta in the ninth to wrap up the scoring as Weyburn took a 10-8 victory.

Jose Ayala had a three-run home run for the 57's when the game was originally played on May 26. Andres Mendes allowed two runs and two hits in four innings of relief and original starter Klevert Martina retroactively took the loss. Jordan Bauer resumed his pitching duties for the Beavers, striking out four batters over a total of six innings for the win. Tanner Coddington picked up the save.

Game two - Swift Current 15 Weyburn 4

Weyburn jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with Muizelaar and Heck hitting RBI singles, but the 57's responded with four runs in the bottom half, with Alexandre hitting a two-run single and then scoring on a wild pitch, and then Cullen Verville hit an RBI single to make it 4-2. Jefferey Gutierrez hit a two-run single in his home debut and then came home on a sacrifice fly by Alexandre, and Jeremiah Sanchez also scored in a four-run third inning to make it 8-2 for Swift Current.

In the fourth, Luis Ayala hit an RBI triple and scored on a wild pitch and Sanchez hit an RBI single to make it 10-2 for the 57's. Weyburn cut the deficit to 10-3 in the sixth inning with an RBI single from Nick Teng before Swift Current picked up four more runs in the bottom of the sixth with Luis Ayala and Kai Gray scoring on a wild pitches and Alexandre driving in his fourth run of the game with an RBI single and then scoring on a groundout to make it 15-3. Muizelaar hit a lead-off solo home run in the top of the seventh, but Adam Korte got the final three outs to wrap up a 15-4 victory for the 57's. Klevert Martina threw eight strikeouts over six innings to take the victory while Joe Hart took the loss for Weyburn.

The 57's (3-10) host the Saskatoon Berries at Mitchell Field tonight at 7:05 p.m. and will head to Brooks, Alberta, to face the Bombers on Saturday and Sunday.
