A dangerous persons alert issued by the Maidstone RCMP Tuesday morning has been cancelled.

An update by SaskAlert says two adult males are in police custody, and residents of the RM of Britannia and Lloydminster no longer need to shelter in place.

The alert, which was put into effect at 7:06 a.m. Tuesday, said shots were fired Tuesday morning at a residence in the RM of Britannia.

The shots reportedly came from a black, newer model, Ford Mustang. And shots were also suspected of being fired from the same car at a residence in Lloydminster. The vehicle is also believed to have been involved in an attempted fuel theft in the RM of Britannia.

Police did not believe the incident was connected to the James Smith Cree Nation investigation.
