A Wednesday night performance by classical group Joe Trio officially put the wraps on the Swift Current Arts Council’s 2021-2022 Stars for Saskatchewan concert series, their first full season since the 2019-20 season was cut short due to the pandemic.

“I think we had a very successful season,” said Helen Arnold, Administrator for the Swift Current Arts Council. “We did have to have two postponements throughout the season, but all in all, it was a very good season. I think the audience was a little thin to begin with, but as the season progressed, we’ve seen our crowds growing in numbers, so that was great to see.”

The concert series also featured performances by the Doc Walker Duo, Chantal Kreviazuk, Motus O - Prisoner of Tehran, and The Fitzgeralds, among others.

The Arts Council has also released their lineup for the upcoming season, which begins in the fall and will again feature a wide variety of performances spanning every genre, including some that were originally scheduled for the shortened 2019-20 season.

“We have a tribute band to Simon and Garfunkel, a ballet doing Cinderella, we have the Derina Harvey band closing off the season, they are a foot-stomping Celtic rock band,” Helen added. “Jack Semple... Saskatchewan talent coming, and the Barra MacNeils Christmas show, just to name a few.”

The new season schedule is as follows, with all performances at the Living Sky Casino Events Centre:

  • Sep 29 – Homeward Bound: The Music of Simon & Garfunkel
