Five Business Risk Management stakeholder consultations are planned across Canada in the coming weeks as part of the Round 1 consultations on the next generation of Agriculture and Agri-food policy. The Federal Agriculture Minister met with industry representatives during consultations on the next generation of Agriculture and Agri-Food Policy.  The consultation was to gather views on business risk management (BRM) programming aimed at supporting farmers.  Federal, provincial and territorial governments are consulting broadly on the next generation of agriculture and agri-food policy. Producers and industry associations have been involved in the design of changes to BRM programming and over the past year.  In November ministers acknowledged that more work still needs to be done to identify and address gaps and make improvements in the BRM suite.  Five BRM stakeholder consultations are planned across Canada in the coming weeks as part of the Round 1 consultations on the next generation of agriculture and agri-food policy.  In addition, a total of 29 cross-Canada public consultations will be launched on January 22, 2007.  For information on how to register or take part in the online consultations visit the website at www.agr.gc.ca/nextgen.
