Swift Current residents who use the local transit system can soon buy monthly bus passes.

Council voted on the move yesterday, so that citizens can cash in on the federal Conservative's main environmental policy: a tax break on public transit users.

In order to qualify for the tax break, transit users need a receipt showing they purchased a pass for a month or longer.

The monthly pass will cost $52, the same rate they charge in Moose Jaw and only $2 dollars less than Regina's monthly pass.

Passes can be purchased next month.
