After falling behind 2-0 early, Canada scored six unanswered goals to beat the USA 6-2 and move on to the gold medal game at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Halifax. 

Joshua Roy had two goals and four assists and Connor Bedard added a goal and a helper to extend his record scoring total at the tournament. 

Thomas Milic made 43 saves for Canada, who will face Czechia in tonight’s gold medal game. Jiri Kulich scored in the final minute of overtime to help the Czechs beat Sweden 2-1 in their semi-final on Wednesday.

Canada will play in the World Junior gold medal game for the 20th time in the last 28 years, while Czechia will play for gold for the first time since they won back-to-back gold medals in 2000 and 2001. The game is also a rematch of the opening game of this year's tournament, where Czechia upset Canada 5-2 on Boxing Day.

The US and Sweden will play for bronze this afternoon.

Broncos game versus Tigers rescheduled

The Swift Current Broncos announced their game in Medicine Hat that was postponed on December 28 has been rescheduled for Sunday, January 22, at 5:00pm CST.

The Broncos host the Blades tomorrow night before visiting the Tigers on Saturday.

Atley Calvert and Eric Alaire had two goals each as the Moose Jaw Warriors beat Lethbridge 5-3 in the WHL Wednesday night. Elsewhere, Brett Hyland had a pair of goals as Brandon beat Regina 6-2, Calgary got by Prince Albert 3-1 and Everett beat Kamloops 3-2 in overtime.

In the NHL, New Jersey beat Detroit 5-1, Minnesota beat Tampa Bay 5-1 and Anaheim blanked Dallas 2-0. Four Canadian teams are in action tonight with Toronto hosting Seattle, Montreal welcoming the Rangers, Edmonton hosting the Islanders and Vancouver entertaining Colorado.

Raptors fall to Bucks after storming back to force OT

The Toronto Raptors came back from 11 points down with 43 seconds left to force overtime, only to fall 104-101 to the Milwaukee Bucks in NBA action Wednesday night. 

Fred Van Vleet had 28 points for the Raptors while Gary Trent Junior added 22 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo had a triple-double for Milwaukee with 30 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists.

Hamlin showing "signs of improvement"

Damar Hamlin remains in critical condition but is showing signs of improvement according to an update shared by the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday. The team added he is expected to remain in intensive care as his health care team continues to monitor and treat him. 

Hamlin has been in hospital since he suffered cardiac arrest and collapsed during a game between the Bills and Bengals on Monday. The game was later postponed.
