The Swift Current City RCMP has arrested an individual allegedly behind the succession of thefts in Swift Current's northwest end.

Police apprehended Swift Current's Lance Hilmoe during the early morning hours of August 2 thanks to a multitude of tips and increased patrols.

The Swift Current RCMP General Investigative Service then carried out a search warrant at his residence later in the day recovering a plethora of stolen items.

“This is just another example of the good work being done by our officers on the street as well as the cooperation we have from our community, Swift Current City RCMP Staff Sergeant Evan Gordon said. "I’m pleased we were able to aid the victims of these property crimes by
recovering some of the stolen property.

"Even though charges have been laid against one person, the RCMP would like to remind citizens to lock their car doors to remove the temptation from other would-be car shoppers here in Swift Current”

Hilmoe faces a pair of charges stemming from the incidents including one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of mischief under $5,000. He's been remanded in custody and will make an appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court sometime tomorrow.
