Mitchell Field will be lighting up a little brighter next time the Swift Current 57's take a home at bat.

The City of Swift Current included in their general revenue fund disbursements that it had purchased some new bulbs for the field lights. The total cost for the brand-new bulbs rang in at $11,000.

When asked if the lights are going to be brighter than the old set, as they were growing noticeably dimmer, Swift Current's General Manager of Infrastructure and Operations, Mitch Minken, responded with an affirmative.

"We purchased new lamps to replace the existing ones," said Minken. "Which should improve the brightness dramatically."

These new bulbs are expected to last up to seven years, providing illumination for ball games played late into the evening.

Swift Current City Counsellor, Ryan Switzer, offered praise for the purchase.

"We are 'where lights make sense'," Switzer commented.
