A potential bylaw in Swift Current has undergone its second reading at city council.

The bylaw would see the City of Swift Current enter into an agreement with the Province of Saskatchewan regarding tax assessment exemption per the Inner City Housing Initiative Policy.

In simple terms, this adjustment to the Inner City Housing Initiative Policy allows the City to grant a tax exemption to specific work done on properties within the inner city region in Swift Current.

The goal is incentivizing owners to update these older locations, bringing modern designs and upgrades to the aging neighbourhoods.

First presented to city council on February 6, there will be another reading of the bylaw on February 28, 2023. This assures the chance for city council to review and address the bylaw multiple times before passing it officially.
