If you're looking to sign up the kids or yourself for some activities this winter, City Wide Connection has you covered.

The event formerly known as City Wide Registration for the last 28 years in Swift Current, is now going by City Wide Connection.

It's still the same event, looking to help people find activities and groups to sign up with for recreation and fun, but with a newer name to suit the times.

Krista Caswell, the community recreation coordinator with the City of Swift Current, thinks the time was right for the change as the world goes more digital.

"Moving into the more digital world, we noticed that our people that were coming out to City Wide Registration were looking for information," said Caswell. "Wanting to connect with different groups and to really find out what's happening in our communities throughout the year."

Instead of just focusing on registration, the event will reflect that need for additional information by also including things like Southwest Crisis Services, Service Canada, and other similar groups that operate within Swift Current.

They will still be including all their regular sporting, recreation and culture groups as their main focus. This new angle will simply broaden what kind of information and options are available at the City Wide Connection.

"I think the biggest thing is to get out, learn what is actually happening in our community," said Caswell. "There's so many great community clubs and organizations and sometimes we forget about all the amazing things that are going on in our community."

For those interested in attending the connect-a-thon, they can head over to the Stockade Building at Kinetic Park on September 8, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Anyone who would like to register their group or organization for the event can contact the community services team at 306-778-2787. For non-profit organizations, the registration fee is $66, and for more business-styled groups it comes out to $107.
