The Swift Current Comprehensive High School Colts volleyball team earned gold at the SHSAA 5A Boys Regional championship in Weyburn on Saturday.

The Colts went unbeaten in pool play, winning over Weyburn and Balgonie without dropping a single set. Swift Current defeated Balgonie again 2-0 in the semi-final and then picked up a 2-0 win over Weyburn to win the tournament. Estevan placed third and will also qualify for Provincials, which will be held in Swift Current November 18 & 19.

Meanwhile, the SCCHS Ardens volleyball team also earned a berth in provincials after finishing third at 5A girls regionals at Moose Jaw's Peacock Collegiate. The Ardens fell 2-1 to Yorkton Regional and rebounded with a 2-1 over Weyburn in pool play, then followed up with a 2-0 win over Peacock in the quarter-final before dropping a 2-0 loss to Balgonie in the semi-final. The Ardens defeated Weyburn 2-0 in the third-place game to earn the final berth for provincials, which will be in Balgonie on November 25 & 26.

Also qualifying for provincial volleyball tournaments from the southwest are Maple Creek (3A Girls), Gull Lake (2A Girls), Vanguard (1A Girls) and Kyle (1A Girls). Advancing out of conference play to regional tournaments were Fox Valley (1A Boys), Ponteix (2A Boys), Frontier (1A Boys) and Shaunavon (3A Boys).
